If you are short of trouble, take a goat. ~Finnish Proverb
Goat House Farm is a nonprofit micro-dairy based in Tallahassee, Florida. It was developed as a hands-on education and community resource centered on dairy goats.
The farm began in 2015 with just four goats and a simple idea. At that time, the goal was to create a space where people could access animals and learn through direct experience. Over time, that small start has grown into a working farm that supports youth education, community engagement, and practical livestock learning.
At the center of Goat House Farm is a simple mission: To connect people, animals, and dairy goat care and management through hands-on, real farm experiences.
This mission shapes both daily farm work and program development. It also guides how we approach access, responsibility, and meaningful engagement with livestock.
As we have grown, the farm has developed into both an education program and a community resource. To support that work, we focus on the following goals:
– To establish standards and clear, accessible communication strategies for first-time goat owners based on scientific best practices and holistic care
-To develop and grow community education programs on goat husbandry centered on compassion, empathy, and environmental awareness
-To increase youth participation and interest in dairy goats through inclusive programming, with intentional support for youth with unique abilities
-To improve community wellness through goat-assisted therapeutic and educational services
-To partner with nonprofit organizations to align shared missions, expand access, and better serve our community

Over time, this work has shaped Goat House Farm into a place where people can engage with livestock in ways that are often hard to find.
Youth, families, first-time goat owners, and individuals building more advanced skills all take part in the farm in different ways. Programs are designed to meet people where they are, while still maintaining high standards for animal welfare and herd management.
In addition, the farm serves as the home of the Get Goating! Dairy Goat Club. Through this program, youth gain ongoing experience in animal care, breeding, and herd management. As a result, they also develop responsibility and leadership skills.

Today, many people are disconnected from livestock and the realities of animal care. Because of that, Goat House Farm works to bridge that gap through direct experience and practical education.
For youth, this creates access to livestock education without the barrier of ownership. For the broader community, it provides a place to learn, connect, and spend time in a working farm environment.

From its start with four goats, Goat House Farm has grown into a structured program that supports both education and community engagement.
As the farm continues to expand, we are building capacity through youth programs, educational opportunities, and infrastructure improvements. At the same time, these efforts support both animal care and public access.

Looking ahead, the focus remains on strengthening youth programs and expanding access to livestock education.
At the same time, we strive to develop as a community resource. Throughout that growth, the priority remains consistent: high standards of science-based animal care and meaningful opportunities for people to learn and connect.

As a nonprofit, Goat House Farm relies on community support to sustain and grow its programs.
That support allows us to fund youth education, maintain high-quality animal care, and continue developing the farm as a place for learning and community engagement.
