If you are short of trouble, take a goat. ~Finnish Proverb
Email us and we are happy to accommodate photo requests of kids, dam, and sire for serious inquiries. We expect you to ask!
We care a lot about where our goats end up, because they are not just livestock here, they are part of our programs and our daily work. Our herd is raised for dairy, education, and companionship, and our sales policy reflects that.
When you reach out, tell us what you are trying to build, even if you are brand new.
Examples:
Want to increase udder height or improve teat placement?
Looking for stronger medial suspensory ligaments and long-term udder support?
Need better feet and legs, or more dairyness?
Want a steady, friendly temperament for a family milk goat or 4-H project?
We will help match you with the right kid or adult, and in many cases we can provide a type-style report or notes pulled from the same kind of evaluation language used in ADGA resources (including the ADGA Genetics type information we have been working with). This is not a guarantee of show wins or milk records, it is a tool to help you make an informed decision.
We do not sell goats to meat homes. If you are looking for meat stock, we are not the right fit.
Goats are herd animals and need goat companionship. We do not sell to homes that do not already have an age-appropriate companion for the goat you intend to buy, unless you are purchasing two (or more) goats together.
We do not accept reservations based on cosmetic traits such as eye color, moonspots, or polled status. Those traits do not predict health, structure, udder quality, temperament, or long-term productivity, and we do not encourage choosing goats solely for looks.
Unless you have solid bottle-feeding experience and the setup to do it safely, we do not sell bottle babies. Our kids are handled regularly and can be friendly without being pulled early from their dams. We believe dam-raised kids are healthier and more resilient.
Kids are dam-raised and weaned at approximately 16 weeks.
If we ever offer a bottle baby, it will be limited, and buyers must demonstrate experience and appropriate facilities.
We disbud our kids. If you are purchasing a non-registered pet goat and do not want it disbudded, we can discuss it on a case-by-case basis, but we require a 70% nonrefundable deposit to hold that kid because horned goats are significantly more difficult to place.
We raise our herd with a “natural when possible, responsible always” approach.
Kids receive CDT vaccination.
Bucks not meeting our breeding standards are wethered.
Kids are on Calf Pro coccidia prevention.
We maintain herd records and will share the individual goat’s health history we have on file at pickup.
Deposits hold your place and your goat, and they are nonrefundable.
Unregistered goats: $50 deposit once the kid is born.
Registered goats: $100 deposit once the kid is born.
Exception (horned by request for non-registered pet goats): 70% deposit required to hold, due at reservation.
The remaining balance is due before pickup, or at pickup in an agreed-upon form of payment.
If a buyer backs out, the deposit is forfeited and the goat will be relisted.
All registered goats are tattooed before leaving the farm.
For registered does, priority will be given to performance homes (LA, DHIR, Show).
We reserve the right to retain a breeding (for example, to keep a specific pairing available for our program goals). If this applies to a specific animal or season offering, we will state it clearly before any deposit is accepted.
We want goats to move with less stress and into homes set up for success.
Sibling discount: $25 off each goat when purchasing multiples (when available).
Livestock vet relationship discount: $25 off when you already have an established relationship with a livestock veterinarian.
4-H and FFA: We will work with you. Tell us your goals and deadlines.
If you have taken our “We’re Getting Goats” class, 50% of the cost of the class can be applied toward a goat purchase.
All placements are vetted. We may ask questions about fencing, shelter, herd mates, feeding plan, predator protection, and your goat experience. We reserve the right to refuse a sale if we feel a placement is not a good fit.
If you ever need to rehome a goat purchased from us, you must contact us first. We require the first option to buy back, or to assist with an appropriate rehome.
Goats must be picked up on the agreed pickup window. If you need to delay pickup, communicate with us as early as possible. Extended holds may require a boarding fee, depending on timing and space.
We offer full support to all of our buyers. We specialize in first time goat owners and will be happy to teach you everything you need to know to properly care for them. We are also here for you in the future should you have any questions at all. We also encourage you to come visit the kids as much as you like before taking them home and to come spend some time with us here on the farm to learn more about caring for goats and the day to day routine!
