Looking for a meaningful, unplugged experience that gets your child outdoors, learning, and laughing? Goat House Farm’s half-day program offers just that. Designed for students of all ages, this unique opportunity blends animal care, environmental science, and creative exploration into a morning of hands-on fun.
Kids don’t just pet the goats. They learn with them. Each session includes real chores like feeding, grooming, and habitat upkeep, paired with engaging lessons in goat behavior, anatomy, and health. Students gain confidence handling animals while developing responsibility, observational skills, and empathy.
Our approach is rooted in educational best practices. Led by experienced educators and goat care pros, the program aligns with Florida state standards and encourages critical thinking, teamwork, and real-world problem solving. All while keeping kids excited to learn.
We welcome all experience levels. No prior farm knowledge needed. Just bring closed-toe shoes, bag lunch, a refillable water bottle, and a curiosity for the natural world. Space limited. Clinics are intentionally small to allow individual instruction.

We regularly feature exciting topics that dive deeper into the world of goats, farming, and science. These themed days offer fresh ways to explore, experiment, and grow new skills. Some of our favorites include:
Get Goating! is led by experienced educators with expertise in agricultural science, curriculum development, and hands-on learning. All instructors hold Level 2 background checks in Florida. The lead, Melissa Hughes, is an experienced educator and agricultural program leader with over two decades of teaching across academic, nonprofit, and hands-on farm settings. She holds a Master’s degree in Sociology and a Master’s in Humanities from Florida State University, where she developed an online pedagogical tool specifically designed for dairy goat producers. She is also a PhD (ABD) in History at FSU, with dissertation research focused on creating a digital, interactive teaching tool for educators. Melissa combines academic expertise with real-world experience managing a working dairy goat farm, where she oversees herd health, milk production, and youth programming. She created the farm’s educational model to blend science, animal husbandry, and project-based learning into an accessible, engaging format for young learners. Melissa brings both pedagogical depth and a passion for experiential learning to every lesson. Her work emphasizes responsibility, critical thinking, and confidence building to ensure that students don’t just learn about farm life but grow through it.
